DECT ULE Interoperability Test (AVM/Diasemi/DSP/RTX) successful

Press Release: Second Successful DECT ULE Interoperability Test Event

Second Successful DECT ULE Interoperability Test Event Berne, Switzerland, February 7, 2012.

The DECT Forum, the international association of the wireless home and enterprise communication industry, is pleased to report that the second DECT ULE* Interoperability (IOP) test event (January 18-19) was very successful. The event took place at the premises of DSP Group, a full member of the DECT Forum.

The DECT ULE interoperability test event between the 4 participating companies AVM, Dialog Semiconductor, DSP Group and RTX proved very successful. All devices showed full interoperability for all the test scenarios. Already at the end of the first day all the participating platforms were able to communicate with each other. The tests primarily focused on the following test cases: dummy bearer, fast synchronization, single package data transfer, multi packet data transfer and ULE paging.

“In this event, the definition of the Physical- and MAC-Layers proved to be well defined and interoperable. All participants will now ensure to have the ETSI (European Telecommunications Standards Institute) standard for the first phase of DECT ULE completed,” says Jochen Kilian, Vice Chair and Technical Lead of the DECT ULE Working Group. “We are also in advanced stages of providing an interoperable solution up to the Application Layer. We target to achieve this by June 2012, and we are preparing for the next IOP session focusing on the most important use cases covering all aspects up to the Application Layer.”

Dan D. S. Hermansen, Chairman of the DECT ULE Working Group says: “I am happy with the progress being made with DECT ULE. It is considered the ideal wireless technology for controlling data and voice in the Home Area Network. It targets applications within home automation, security, tele-health and smart metering. The timing is right for DECT ULE to play a leading role in these markets now that all major carriers are adopting DECT base stations in their xDSL boxes and cable modems.” With this IOP, all essential components to achieve the required battery life and fast response time required for DECT ULE devices have been tested and proved to work.

* About DECT ULE

DECT ULE is a Local Area Network (LAN) technology, ideal for low power applications within 300-meter range and can provide sustained longevity for battery powered consumer equipment such as burglar alarms, and security cameras. DECT ULE builds upon the mature technology, DECT, and inherits all the advantages of DECT such as worldwide interference free spectrum, proven range, simple plug and play connections, and all the benefits of an existing eco-system of multiple solution vendors.
